About

Ruta Matuleviciute is a Lithuanian painter and interdisciplinary artist. Her paintings can be described as surreal and magical realism. The main focus of her creativity is bridging ancient knowledge with contemporary existence, which leads her to focus on Lithuanian fairy tales, world mythology and comparative cultural studies. Matuleviciute follows the method of Consciousness-Based Art, which focuses on a forgotten but most important element of art - the artist herself. Regular Transcendental Meditation practice makes this (re)newed approach possible.
Matuleviciute's work has been shown in exhibitions throughout Lithuania and beyond, and she has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Association since 2019.
